FROM THE OFFICE OF THE CEO
Pain is the most common symptom causing people to seek medical treatment in the United States. Each year more than 25 million people in the United States experience chronic moderate to severe pain, and pain causes more disability than cancer and heart disease combined.
Adolor (Latin for “without pain”) was founded to develop new classes of pain management drugs.
- Our lead product, ENTEREG® (alvimopan), is the first FDA- approved product for the management of postoperative ileus, and is specifically indicated to accelerate the upper and lower gastrointestinal recovery following partial large or small bowel resection surgery with primary anastomosis.
- We have a collaboration with Pfizer for the development of two compounds that target the delta opioid receptor and may be useful for the treatment of pain in a wide variety of conditions.
- We have begun clinical evaluation for ADL7445 and ADL5945, two mu opioid antagonists under development for the treatment of opioid induced bowel dysfunction.
- Finally, we have a number of earlier stage research programs directed at the identification of new analgesic product opportunities, among other areas.
With strong internal R & D efforts, innovative proprietary technologies and established strategic partnerships, Adolor eagerly meets the challenge of developing innovative medicines to advance the treatment of pain.
We hope that you will take a few moments to learn more about Adolor: our products, our people and our potential.
